Korean-American tenor Christopher Yoon is a 1st year P.S.D. student at Mannes College The New School for Music where he also received his M.M. in 2014. A graduate of The Juilliard School, in 2009, Mr. Yoon performed the role of Puck in Juilliard’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and the following spring shared a debut recital in Weill Hall. In 2012 he sang the role of Podesta in Juilliard’s production of La finta giardiniera. Following that fall at Mannes he sang Mavra in Stravinsky’s Mavra and that spring, covered Male Chorus in Britten’s Rape of Lucretia. In the fall of 2013 he sang the role of Cavelier Belfiore in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims.

 

He is a recipient of the Career Bridge Grant Encourage Award, Giulio Gari International Vocal Competition Encouragement Award, and was a finalist for the Jensen Foundation Vocal Competition. Recently he was invited as a guest to sing in Stephanie Blythe’s master-class for Carnegie Weill Music Center’s opening celebration. He returned to Carnegie Hall this season to participate in Song Continues series with Anne Sofie von Otter’s master-class in Zankel Hall. He was one of the participants at The Music Academy of the West covering Remondado in Carmen this past summer and will be returning this summer to sing the principle role of Prince Ramiro in Rossini’s La Cenerentola.
